Lexxi Pro began her drag journey in April 2022, marking three years since stepping into the art form that would soon become a central part of her identity. A former theater kid, she originally attended a performing arts school before transitioning into a career in business operations. Despite the shift, her creative spirit never left. In her late teens and early twenties, she was the life of the party, often creating makeshift dresses from blankets and tossing on wigs for fun. It was her best friend Auntie Lu, alongside her then-boyfriend and now husband, who introduced her to RuPaul’s Drag Race. Before that, she had never considered performing in drag. But during the early days of the 2020 pandemic, the trio made a spontaneous trip to a wig store, picked up some makeup, and began experimenting at home. What started as playful nights staying in, quickly evolved into a passion that would take her from living room runways to the stage.

Her name was born out of a mission that started at an Olive Garden, just before a Pride party during the pandemic. She and her close friend Auntie Lu were planning to do drag for the event, and she realized she needed a name before stepping into the spotlight. The goal of the dinner was clear, no one would leave the table until she had the perfect name. For nearly two hours, the group tossed around playful suggestions, laughing over names like Miss Fettuccine Alfredo. Lexxi knew she wanted something that felt like a play on words but also carried meaning. When the name Lexapro came up, it struck a chord. During a difficult time in her life, she had taken Lexapro, a medication that had helped her through a period of mental health struggles. The idea of naming herself Lexxi Pro clicked immediately. It honored a period of healing and transformation, while also embracing the fun and performance that drag had brought into her life.

After that Pride party during the pandemic, Lexxi’s journey continued in the fall of 2021, when she performed at a backyard brunch for her friend’s birthday. She got into full makeup and drag and delivered a small performance that sparked something deeper. That afternoon, surrounded by friends and encouragement, became the unofficial start of her path as a performer. Just a few months later, in April 2022, Lexxi had her first official booking at Yellow King Brews in Wallingford, which led to a partnership with the venue. What started as a personal celebration quickly turned into a public debut, launching her into a new chapter fueled by creativity and community.

For Lexxi Pro, drag quickly became more than just performance, it became a life-changing form of expression. Though she initially told herself the name could change if needed, it stuck, especially once she adopted the tagline “your daily dose of serotonin.” That phrase reflects not only the origin of her name, but also the purpose behind her presence on stage. At her shows, she makes space for laughter, emotion, and joy, often using the moment to speak openly about mental health. Whether audiences leave laughing, crying, or both, Lexxi hopes they walk away feeling something real. For her, drag is as much about connection and healing as it is about entertainment.

From the very beginning, Lexxi Pro referred to herself as the Haus of Pro, even when it was just her. For her, a house meant more than a formal drag family, it was a community, a team, a group of people who showed up for one another. When she first started performing, that house included Auntie Lu and other close friends who helped her with everything from makeup to outfit choices to music feedback. Anyone who offered support or encouragement became part of that early foundation. The idea of expanding the house took shape when Lexxi was hosting a drag-themed trivia night and convinced Auntie Lu to perform alongside her, even if it was just a one-time thing. She saw it as the perfect opportunity, knowing their circle of friends would be there. That night, Auntie Lu stepped into drag for the first time and now, she is Lexxi’s official drag sister.

Shortly after building her drag family, Lexxi Pro connected with Sauvignon Blanc, who wanted to try drag. After a successful first open stage, Lexxi and Auntie Lu saw Sauvignon perform again and recognized her potential. Their bond grew naturally, especially after both performed similar dark numbers. What started as a joke about being mother and daughter quickly became real. Sauvignon Blanc soon became part of the House of Pro as the baby of the family. Lexxi has enjoyed watching her confidence and skills grow, while Auntie Lu and Sauvignon Blanc also share a strong connection.

Describing her style of drag can be challenging for Lexxi Pro because she draws inspiration from many different places and likes to mix things up. She pulls from her life experiences and enjoys performing a variety of styles, from Broadway numbers to funny skits to emotional ballads. Artists like Lady Gaga inspire her to bring drama to her performances, but her look is always evolving and doesn’t stick to one specific aesthetic. Some days she might channel pop icons like Britney Spears, and other times she explores darker themes. She avoids putting herself in a box and likes to express whatever she is feeling that week through her performances. For Lexxi, drag is about the freedom to express herself in different ways depending on the moment.

Drag has taught Lexxi Pro a great deal about herself, especially around confidence and resilience. Before drag, she tended to make herself smaller in rooms and avoided speaking up, especially around people she didn’t know. Through drag, she discovered she could tap into different sides of herself even during moments of anxiety or fear. Performing as Lexxi gives her the strength to stand up for herself in challenging situations like presentations in front of senior leadership. She also appreciates the freedom drag gives her to express herself in many different ways without feeling confined to one style or identity. For Lexxi, drag is about exploring emotions and stories through performance, sometimes serious and sometimes just for fun, always reflecting what she feels in the moment.

Taking a look back, what Lexxi Pro is most proud of her drag career is becoming the resident queen at Yellow King Brews in Wallingford, where she produces themed shows from top to bottom. She works closely with the owners to plan each performance and values the creative trust they’ve placed in her. Though she once dreamed of simply appearing on a flyer for places like the Chez Est in Hartford or performing at Mohegan Sun’s Lipstick, Lashes, and Lies, she now looks back on these local collaborations as meaningful milestones. In 2024, Lexxi officially launched Haus of Pro Entertainment LLC, and began partnering with businesses like Elicit Brewing in Manchester to host sold-out bingo nights and drag brunches. One recent brunch drew over 170 attendees, with their smaller events regularly selling out as well.

Looking ahead, Lexxi Pro is focused on expanding her reach and continuing to bring drag into unexpected spaces. While balancing a full-time job in the manufacturing industry, she remains committed to growing Haus of Pro Entertainment. Her upcoming plans include new shows at both Yellow King Brews locations in Wallingford and Bristol, as well as expanding her successful partnerships with Elicit Brewing to include their Fairfield and Danbury venues. Lexxi is also preparing to compete in the upcoming seasons of the local drag competition Chez Legends at Chez Est in Hartford, where she looks forward to showcasing her growth. A major part of her mission is to bring drag into nontraditional venues, whether it be a brewery or a tattoo parlor, in hopes of normalizing the art form and introducing it to new audiences.
