FAIRFIELD, CONNECTICUT – The drag and LGBTQ+ communities came together in force at Trevi Lounge in Fairfield for the third annual Drag Me to Life charity benefit orchestrated by local drag king Frankie M. Cyanide, continuing a growing tradition of celebration, artistry, and advocacy in support of mental health awareness. The event served as both a joyful reunion and a powerful reminder of the resilience rooted in queer community spaces.

Hosted by Trevi Lounge staple Frankie M. Cyanide, known for his signature weekly Wacky Wednesdays, alongside local divas Valeryan and Tiki Malone, the evening delivered more than six hours of nonstop entertainment. The lineup featured an eclectic mix of drag and burlesque artists from across Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York. From high-energy lip-syncs and dance numbers to emotional live vocals and sultry burlesque routines, over forty performers kept the crowd cheering well into the night.

The benefit, originally known as ‘Drag Saves Lives’ in its inaugural year, returned to the Trevi Lounge stage with renewed purpose and an expanded roster of performers. With proceeds once again supporting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Connecticut Chapter (AFSPCT), the event raised both spirits and vital funds in the fight against suicide. This year’s show demonstrated how the power of art, music, and drag can go beyond performance to impact real, meaningful change.

AFSPCT continues to be a cornerstone of mental health advocacy across the state, working to reduce the stigma surrounding suicide and mental illness. Through community-based events like Drag Me to Life, the organization fosters awareness, honors lives lost, and supports healing for survivors of suicide loss. Their ongoing collaboration with local artists strengthens the bridge between activism and community engagement.

In addition to the show itself, the benefit included raffles with prizes donated by over a dozen local businesses and a handful of individual community members, a tip donation drive, and numerous ways for attendees to get involved. So far, the fundraiser has brought in $5,704 toward its $10,000 goal. The donation page remains active, and supporters are encouraged to contribute to help them reach their target and continue supporting suicide prevention efforts statewide. Each dollar raised represents not just a donation, but a lifeline extended to someone in need.

Suicide remains a critical issue in the LGBTQ+ community, where members face disproportionately high rates of depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation due to systemic discrimination and societal pressures. For many, drag provides a vital outlet for self-expression and identity. Events like this benefit remind the community that while drag can bring joy and celebration, it also has the power to uplift, educate, and save lives. This dual purpose, entertainment and empowerment, is at the heart of why such events matter so deeply.
