FAIRFIELD, CONNECTICUT – In a show of community and compassion, local advocate Ricky Mestre once again led a successful benefit event for AIDS Walk New York at Trevi Lounge in Fairfield, CT, marking the third consecutive year of his efforts. Held on the evening of Saturday, April 12th, and hosted by beloved drag performer Tiana Maxim, the event spotlighted dynamic performances from local talent, all in support of raising critical funds and awareness. Ricky, co-captain and co-founder of Team Pride, continues to champion the cause, with his team’s fundraising efforts directly supporting the mission of AIDS Walk New York.

Trevi Lounge came alive with passion and purpose as community members gathered to rally behind Team Pride in their mission to support the 40th Annual AIDS Walk New York, presented by Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC), set for Sunday, May 18, 2025. The evening’s program, curated by organizer Ricky Mestre, delivered a high-energy celebration of queer talent and resilience. Drag stars Tiana Maxim, Vnus Nevaeh, and Kiki Lucia, as well as Ricky Mestre himself, lit up the stage with bold lip-sync performances. Adding to the vibrant atmosphere, DJ Sweet Cheeks kept the crowd moving with an infectious mix from behind the booth.

Team Pride marches forward in honor of their late captain, Charles Todd, whose unwavering dedication to AIDS Walk New York left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Until his passing in late 2022, Charles was a tireless fundraiser, making the annual journey from Connecticut to New York to walk with purpose and pride. His passion was contagious, so much so that close friend Ricky Mestre was inspired to join the cause, amplifying Charles’ efforts by sharing his campaign and mobilizing his own network. The momentum they built together soon blossomed into the formation of Team Pride. Though Charles is no longer physically present, his legacy lives on in every step the team takes.

The evening at Trevi Lounge was a powerful testament to what a united community can achieve. With hearts full of purpose and generosity, attendees rallied behind the cause, offering support both in person and online to advance the fight against HIV/AIDS. Under the leadership of Ricky Mestre, Team Pride showed their commitment, collecting $376 in cash donations during the benefit, in addition to ongoing digital contributions.
