Yesterday, the biggest names in television arrived on the red carpet outside the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California ahead of the 75th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, honoring achievements in prime time television. The Emmy Awards aired last night on Fox, four months after the initial air date originally scheduled for this past September. Due to the actors and writers strikes last year, the show could not go on as planned, and was pushed to the new year in the hope that the strikes would be resolved by then.
Among the stars to walk the red carpet was Connecticut’s own Robin Fierce who landed a spot on this past season, season 15, of Rupaul’s Drag Race. Robin’s Drag Race season 15 sisters also attended the show, including the reigning queen Sasha Colby, as well as Sugar and Spice, Malaysia Babydoll Foxx, Irene Dubois, Luxx Noir London, Jax, Princess Poppy, Marcia Marcia Marcia, Aura Mayari and Salina EsTitties. This was Robin’s first time to walk the red carpet at the Emmy Awards. The cast, shy of a few contestants, posed for reunion photos on the red carpet, nearly a year after their season aired on MTV. Missing from the carpet were hometown queens Amethyst and Loosey LaDuca as well as Mistress Isabelle Brooks and the season’s runner up, Anetra.
RuPaul’s Drag Race, season 15, won the Emmy for Outstanding Reality Competition Program and Robin Fierce, alongside the season 15 cast, judges, and producers, joined RuPaul on stage to accept the award. It’s the show’s 5th win in the category and has had 63 total Emmy nominations. RuPaul, the host of RuPaul’s Drag Race, has won the Emmy for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program and continues to reign as the most-awarded host in Emmys history. This marks the eighth consecutive win for RuPaul, who also holds the record for most wins by a person of color.
RuPaul’s Drag Race, season 15, was yet another historic season for the show airing on MTV for the first time. Robin and season 15 hometown sisters Amethyst and Loosey LaDuca are the first contestants to reside in the state of Connecticut when they competed on RuPaul’s Drag Race. Winner Sasha Colby was the first Native Hawaiian queen to appear on the show, and was also the first winner of Polynesian descent.
Robin Fierce continues to pop up on the small screen making Connecticut proud. She has appeared on many broadcasts in 2023, ranging from the local NBC news show CT Live to making it onto the 15th season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. She also recently participated as a contestant on WOW Presents’ new online competition, Glam Slam, walked the red carpet at the MTV VMAs, appeared on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, and can now add walking the red carpet at the Emmy Awards to her long list of impressive appearances, kicking off the 2024 year.
