‘Watch What Happens Live’ with Andy Cohen is Bravo’s late-night talk show that features guests from the world of entertainment, politics and pop culture. The series is hosted by Andy Cohen and serves loads of fun pop culture entertainment generally accompanied by the celebrities of Bravo. This past week, Andy invited to the Bravo Clubhouse, for the first time, actress and Golden Globe Award winner Julia Roberts, to celebrate and honor the legacy of Julia’s leading roles in films encompassing a variety of genres. As the night’s episode was gearing towards its close, Andy surprised viewers and Roberts herself with an informal, quirky mini drag competition on set that included Connecticut’s very own Robin Fierce.
During the airing with Julia Roberts, Andy played a variety of cheeky games that allowed Julia to answer relatable questions and offered a glimpse into her personality, such as the infamous drinking game ‘Never Have I Ever’. When an icon graces the Bravo Clubhouse, Andy likes to pay tribute in a memorable way. “As a master of her craft, Julia Roberts has used her remarkable acting talents to bring many complex and layered characters to life,” says Cohen. For Julia, Andy created, what he calls, ‘The First Annual JuliaYaass Roberts Drag Pageant’ inviting four seasoned queens dressed in legendary looks from her iconic career and offered Roberts the opportunity to crown her favorite look at the end.
The chosen four were drag divas Lana Ja’rae as Erin Brockovich, Rosé as Shelby from Steel Magnolias, Scarlet Envy as Vivian from Pretty Woman and our state’s beloved Robin Fierce as Miranda from Mother’s Day. When Robin walked onto the set, Andy announced and quickly remarked, “Give it up for Robin Fierce’s Miranda from Mother’s Day! Hi wig, yasss, wow, you know what, that actually, that wig might be even better than, yes we love it,” referring to the iconic orange bob hairstyle with bangs that Robin was rocking to complete the illusion of Miranda, implying the wig may be a better version than the wig Julia Roberts used to portray Miranda in the movie.
The Haus of Fierce has much to be proud of. The stunning and legendary look Robin Fierce wore to allude Miranda was created by none other than members of Robin’s drag family and daughters of the queen herself. Following the airing of the episode, Robin took to social media to share her gratitude for being a part of the taping where she gave credit for the hair and dress. The orange bob mentioned before, complemented by Andy, was styled by Lulu D. Fierce and the pink mini dress with the double over-the-shoulder cape was made by Natalia Fierce, both long-time friends, sisters, and drag daughters of the mother of the Haus of Fierce, Robin.
The undeniable talent combined within the Fierce family has paid off for Robin. Right before the closing credits, Andy invited the drag queen contestants back onto the stage and provided Julia Roberts the moment to pick her favorite look and crown her favorite queen. After much thought, Julia realized she was granted academy awards for all of the roles except for Miranda in the Mother’s Day movie and felt the role was underappreciated and underrated, and crowned Robin Fierce as her favorite of the night. With a look of shock upon Robin’s face, she happily accepted a bouquet of flowers, a sash and a crown presented by Julia Roberts herself.
Robin is no stranger to the small screen. She has appeared on many broadcasts ranging from the local NBC news show CT Live to making it onto the fifteenth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. She also recently participated as a contestant on WOW Presents’ new online competition, Glam Slam, where eight RuPaul’s Drag Race queens faced off in design challenges to win the grand prize and the title of Glam Slampion. Robin’s commitment to representation continues to shine, from walking the red carpet at the MTV VMAs to being the first drag queen to guest speak at Yale University while hosting a drag queen story hour. Surely an icon in her own right, and that night with Andy Cohen, crowned the winning queen.
