Brooklyn, New York was the place to be! The ‘Let’s Get Wet N Wild’ show at Purgatory on Central Avenue in Brooklyn featured Connecticut’s RuPaul’s Drag Race season 15 contestant, Amethyst. Alongside their CT sister was three of our home state Queens: Rozz Aura, Astra and Moxie Angel, also known as ‘The Dolls’.

Warming up the stage before the night’s special guest were performers Sabby Sousa, Alex Zone and Popstar Rylo, each taking their turn to perform their pop star fantasy solo acts for the excited audience. The time came for Amethyst to grace the stage, but she did not come alone! She invited three of her close friends and Connecticut drag sisters to join her on stage as her backup dancers. 

Rozz Aura tells us “We’ve spent the last few weeks rehearsing for this.” It was an exciting moment for this solidarity of dolls to be able to unite and perform as a sisterhood. To add to this momentous occasion, it was an important night for Amethyst performing her new original music for the first time. Rozz continued to say, “It was a super fun show, we choreographed and put our outfits together and did what we had to do!”

Amethyst, also dubbed Connecticut’s pop star, served the crowd five original hits recorded by the local artist herself. She opened her set with ‘Ate’ which also featured Astra on the track, followed by her rendition of ‘Rock Your Body’. She then performed her new song ‘Hard To Get’ leading into an interlude entitled ‘Amy XOXO’ and then closing her set with another new single called ‘Forever’.

Amethyst, Loosey LaDuca, and Robin Fierce are the first contestants to reside in the state of Connecticut when they competed on RuPaul’s Drag Race. Prior to appearing on Drag Race, Amethyst won local drag competition, Chez Legends season 8 at the Chez Est in Hartford, CT. Amethyst is the second contestant on RuPaul’s Drag Race to be in the bottom two for the first two challenges and win both lip-syncs.

Connecticut resident Robert Williams who traveled to attend the show shared with us, “The atmosphere was very uplifting and fun. I feel like it was an intimate show with friends and family.” After the show ended, drag fans flocked to the queens to take photos with their favorite performers of the night and then reunited on the lower level of the venue to lounge and celebrate with one another.
